Mama® artisan soap is hand-crafted with olive, coconut and palm oils, using the cold process method of soap making. Our bars have an outstanding lather and leave your skin feeling soft and silky. Unlike commercial brands, our soap retains its glycerin, which makes for a naturally moisturizing soap.
Every month we do a Soap of the Month and this month, with everything that is going on, we thought we would make this one help contribute to the greater good. We wanted to do something in the healthcare realm and we picked drive through testing, which is not terribly sexy, but a very important part of helping to get this virus in check. We came up with a soap and scent combo that we thought most people would like, which is key to selling soap. And we sold…2. Which is weird, because it’s a really good soap. We can do better than this! So we have changed our charity to a different one that was on our short list, that we feel supports our mission as a local business better and will hopefully resonate more with our customers.
We really love The Meal Bridge because it was conceived by an Atlanta Druid Hills High School sophomore (how awesome is she?) to feed hospital front line workers while also helping support local restaurants who have been affected by COVID shutdowns. The soap is our popular half and half bar (half lathering, half exfoliating) and it’s scented with one of our best selling EO blends, lemongrass and rosemary, because it’s so bright and cheery. So we are doing an about face and 50% of sales of our Healthcare Heroes soap will go toward The Meal Bridge. We really do want to help!
And here are some other COVID-19 related charities that could use your support:
Good Samaritan Health Clinic: With locations in Atlanta, Cobb and Gwinnett, this organization assists those who can’t afford healthcare and is raising funds for medical supplies.
YMCA of Metro Atlanta: In addition to offering hunger relief programs, this nonprofit is assisting healthcare workers and first responders with childcare support.
CDC Foundations: The Atlanta-based nonprofit, which has been at the center of the COVID-19 crisis response, created a crowdfunding campaign for medical supplies and other health-related needs.
Emory doesn’t have any organization that is taking money right now, but they have a list of ways to support listed here: https://www.emoryhealthcare.org/covid/how-to-help.html
We cut each bar a chunky 5 oz, and cure it for 3 weeks. The finished bars look splendidly natural, like the ingredients that they are made of. Please note: soap design will vary with each bar, as all our soaps are made by hand in small batches.
Our soaps are great in the shower! We use them with a nylon puff for a great lather.
