Hey old friends!
Just in the (saint) nick of time, I'm back for my holiday pop up and have a couple gift offerings for you. Each gift contains a hydrosol, a salve and a soap! This is a limited offering that will be on the site through EOD Weds 12/11 or while supplies last. I'll be packing and shipping through the beginning of next week so you should have everything in time for the big day.
A bit about the products:
Hydrosols are a product that I'm *extremely* passionate about. They are herbal waters distilled on a copper still (the same way you create essential oils) but they're much safer (and cheaper) than EOs and they have a variety of uses. In these gifts, you can choose from lemon verbena (my fave!) or lemon balm, both grown and distilled by me. They can be used interchangeably, and I mainly use them as a daily face toner, but they are great for so many things.
Our salves are an extremely healing and soothing remedy with approximately 1 million uses. Since my daughter was a toddler, she comes to me with any scrape, minor cut, abrasion, rash or sore spot and says "Mama, I need salve!" These salves (along with Yarrow hydrosol, which will be available next year) are the main (and usually only) first aid products I use in my house. I'm still using our former Babymama packaging for this offering (gotta use up those labels!) but I'm officially rebranding it as an all-purpose salve for people of every age as of next year.
And then, yes, you read it right, the gifts have A SOAP in them! The scent is lavender sage, a former soap-of-the month scent and my current fave that I've been using since the weather turned. Soap is the product I still get the most emails about and once my basement workspace is expanded, I plan on doing more soapmaking. I actually experimented with doing a few soap commissions this year and really enjoyed it. But I need my 3 disparate workspaces to morph into one to do this on a larger scale, which is happening, just not very quickly. So I'll keep you posted.
In other news, my new website is launching next year! So this will be the last time you'll have to shop on my bare bones, out-of-date website, which is SO EXCITING! Patience is hard.
Once the new website gets up and running, I'll be ready to launch a passion project I've been working on for a few years. A quick bit of backstory: In 2020, my husband and I bought a community garden in our neighborhood in Atlanta. Our main goal was conservation, as it's in a highly desirable area for developers. I'm also an avid gardener and wanted to expand my space for growing plants to use in Mama products. So over the past 4 years I've been adding beds and growing and planting lots of medicinal herbs. A couple years ago, I came up with the idea to make a section into a self-guided herbal learning garden, and I'm planning to officially get that off the ground in 2025. My true passion is to connect people with plants, both for our own health and for the health of Mother Earth. It's pretty hard to ignore what is happening to our planet when you feel a connection to it. So starting this spring, I will be creating signs with QR codes for people who wander the garden and are curious about the plants, and the new website will host a Materia medica of sorts, with all kinds of info about the plants and ways to use them in everyday life for good health and enjoyment. If you're interested in learning more about the garden, here's our Insta handle.
I also have some fun plans for Mama Apothecary, which I'll be sharing when I launch the website in the spring.
I hope your holidays are happy and your winter is restful. I'll be in touch again in the spring.
With love and gratitude,
Emilie
